It's been almost two months since Haiti was devastated by a 7.0 earthquake.  It's estimated that as many as 230,000 people have died as a result of this earthquake and 1,000,000 are homeless.  The scenes from Haiti continue to break our hearts.  Out of the heartbreak has come a desire to help and  I believe we have been able to support the relief efforts in practical ways due to organizations like Samaritan's Purse and the Baptist Men of North Carolina.  Through our offering for Haiti relief, we were able to send $2843.74 to Samaritan's Purse.  We also assembled 20 "Buckets of Hope" for the Baptist Men.  Let us not forget about Haiti, but let us pray and continue to ask God to show us how He wants us to be involved in the process of rebuilding and sharing Christ in that country.

We must also be diligent in prayer and seeking after God to show us how He wants us to continually shine His light in our community.  One way we can do this is by participating in Operation Inasmuch (OIAM) on Saturday, May 1st.  Our OIAM team is praying and planning projects that will help us share the love of Jesus Christ is our community.  I'm sure there will be a place for everyone who desires to participate in this one day mission blitz in our community.

Easter will be on April 4th.  I want to encourage you to start preparing your hearts now for Resurrection Sunday.  In an effort to assist you in preparing for Easter, I am making available a 31 day reading plan for the Gospels.  It's called "March through the Gospels."  This plan will also include information on how to make the season leading up to Resurrection Sunday more meaningful.  We will also have Maundy Thursday service on Thursday, April 1st at 7:00 PM.  This will be a time to worship the Lord through the partaking of Communion while taking time to reflect on the cross.  Perhaps the greatest way to prepare for Easter is to make every Sunday Resurrection Sunday.  After all, that's why we gather to worship the Lord Jesus Christ.

To God Be the Glory!
