The mission of the Design and Building Committee is to follow through with the plan for expansion and growth of Second Baptist Church as designated by the Long Range Planning Committee. The Long Range Planning Committee identified that there were three significant areas the church needed to expand for future growth which consisted of Worship Space, Educational Space, and Family Life Center Space. As a result of a survey conducted by the committee, the Church by majority vote designated the Worship space as first priority of expansion. The committee has selected David Dial with Living Stones Architecture located in Mathews, NC as our architect who will along with input from the committee design the new sanctuary, and we have selected CA Lewis located in Greenville, NC as our general contractor for the construction phase of the project. During our design process which is under way now, the Architect and General Contractor will work as a team with the committee to design the building within the budget designated for the project. It is estimated that the design process may be complete by February of 2007 at which time the Architect will make a presentation to the Church which includes a computer generated 3D virtual view of the building to the Church.

To see the NEW 3D graphic "walk thru" of the new church interior and exterior building, you will need to download the new Sketch UP Program Version 6. Even if you have previously installed the Sketch Up program you will have to update to Version 6. I would recommend that you remove the old Sketch Up program before downloading and installing Version 6. The new file is over 6MB in size, so based on your connection speed, it may take a few minutes. So be patient. When asked if you want to Run or Save the program, select Run.

Once the program has installed, click on the below link and save the two new data file to your desktop. Once you have done this, double click on the Sketch Up program shortcut on your desktop to launch the program. Once the program is open, go to the menu along the top of the page and select "File" and then select "Open" from the pull down. From this window you must select one of the new data files on your desktop and then click the open box, this should open up the new data file. Once you are in the Sketch Up program, go to the menu along the top of the page and select View. This will activate a pull down menu and you are to select Animation from this menu and then select Play. There will be a little box within the slideshow screen that will allow you to pause and stop the slideshow you are viewing. Check back here often as we will post updates to this file as we receive them from the architect.
